The pyramid stands just outside the town of Stockport between the River Mersey and the M60 motorway. It is a well known prominent landmark for people driving along the motorway.
It also lies on the flightpath of planes heading to Manchester Airport and is visible as the planes come into land.
A Wikipedia page about Stockport tells us... "Beside the M60 motorway is the Stockport Pyramid, a distinctive structure designed by Maxwell Hutchinson. It has a steel frame covered with mostly blue glass and clear glass paneling at the apex and was intended to be the signature building for a much larger development planned in 1987. Construction began in the early 1990s and it was completed in 1992 but an economic downturn caused the project to be abandoned as the developers went into administration. The building lay empty until 1995 when The Co-operative Bank repossessed it and opened it as a call centre."
