The statue, unveiled in MArch 22, 2013, is one of many Argentinian comic statues scattered over Buenos Aires downtown in the frame of cultural program "Paseo de la Historieta (Cartoon walk)".
Gaturro is a series of books written by Cristian Dzwonik (known as Nik). The series features more than 50 books, including comics and small novels. A film adaptation was released in September 2010 and a virtual world for children, called World Gaturro has been launched, also in 2010.
Gaturro is a brown cat with big yellow cheeks. The series is about the life of a cat of the same name that the series, who is madly in love with a cat named Agatha, but she pays no attention. Gaturro lives in the home of a middle-class family consisting of a married couple and two children. To communicate with humans used the method of Garfield, that is, does not speak but thinks, as when he speaks with his animal friends, is shown talking.
