Kim’s, founded by Gene Stanley and her late husband W. O. “Bill” Stanley, opened at its present location in 1963. It closed in 2013 and Woody and Darla Page have purchased it.
Their goal is to reopen it Aug. 1, 2014. They are putting in new air conditioning, plumbing, electrical and new roof as well as new kitchen equipment, booths, tables, a red-and-white color scheme and a jukebox.
Darla Page, who will be running the business, hopes to cash in on Kim's heritage and popularity. They plan to continue serving the hamburger baskets, chicken-fried steak, plate lunches and country-style breakfasts that Kim's was known for.
