Aberfan - Abstract Sculpture - Aberfan, Wales. - Abstract Public Sculptures on Waymarking.com

The pillar like, abstract sculpture stands under 6 feet tall. The steel artwork resembles a Rams head supported on a covered spring plinth. Painted in pastel colours. The text in relief spells ABERFAN on one of the horns.

I can find no information on the sculpture but it seems in fairly good condition. I suspect it is associated with the opening of a children's playground by the Queen when she revisited Aberfan to open a new primary school. It may have been the focal point of the unveiling.

I am hoping that an informed local may visit the waymark & be able to date its placement, & name the Artist or Sculpture.
