In close proximity of two biggest European laser research facilities (ELI Beamlines and hiLASE), in former farming Baroque building of Dolní Brežany Chateau, You can find one of the "youngest" Czech breweries - Olivuv pivovar (Oliva's Brewery).
Oliva's Brewery follows several hundred years long tradition of brewing in Dolní Brežany - the first note about local brewing is from 1580. It contains a reference to a Chateau brewery and a malt house where a hop drink was brewed at least once a week. Brewing in Brežany, however, did not always flourish. The brewery building was damaged during the Thirty Years War. Probably the most recent description of the brewery prior to its demolition in the 1960s comes from the infamous period of nationalisation in 1948. Present, in June 2015 reopened Brežany brewery, is located in pictoresque Baroque building which was originally part of Chateau' farm. Modern brewery, with annual production of 3000 hectoliters of beer, has also own restaurant.
Oliva's Brewery brews traditional Czech-style beers, which include the unique Dolnobrežanská 10° and Laser beer – a classic Czech lager so sharp as to do honour to its name. In addition to these Czech classics we also brew a range of top-fermented specials – semi-dark York, Gari wheat beer, Theodor black stout and aromatic India Pale Ale.
