Armando Diaz (1861-1928) was an Italian general, nominated Marshal of Italy (this title was created for him and general Cadorna). He ruled the Italian army to the victory during the I World War.
The monument was designed by the architect Gino Cancellotti with the sculptor Francesco Nagni.
The statue, about 5 m high x 4.5 x 2.5, poses on a 9.75 m high travertine basement with, on the lateral sides, bas-relieves with war scenes and, on the front sides, the war bulletin of the victory.
