The first camping at this location was a Cub camp in 1962 on land that belonged to the Caillet family. Scouting groups continued to use the Caillet land for many years until it was officially deeded to Scouting by Armand Caillet on October 5, 1985 and designated
Camp Caillet.
The camp is well-known in the region for hosting the annual
Camp Skeeter, an event held on May Long Weekend (mid-May) and hosted by the 1st Van Isle Rovers. Skeeter is open to registered members of Scouts Canada (14 years and older) and registered members of Girl Guides of Canada (15 years and older), and is typically attended by 350 to 600 people. I personally attended Skeeter '98 as a member of the 1st Gibsons Venturers.
Camp Caillet has a fully-equipped kitchen building, a fire pit shelter, a bunkhouse, two cabins, a picnic shelter, and four portable toilets.
