Youngstown is a village of around 2,000 year-round residents located on the tip of the Niagara escarpment north of Niagara Falls. It is the location of Fort Niagara.
The town traces its roots to trades in the area in the late 17th century. It was sacked and burned by the British during the War of 1812. Gradual rebuilding took place and by the 1840's the village was once again thriving.
Today, the village bases its income mainly on the tourist trade.
