Description of Memorial:
Sold black marble stone cut in the shape of MISSISSIPPI, polished. The text splits the service seals, with two on top and three below.
Cut in the state's shape would leave a cut-out at the bottom and the stone would fall over, so a piece of grey marble was left to make the bottom square and in this area the project sponsors are named.
