"A reason to celebrate: 125 years of protecting animals
2020 marks an historic milestone for the BC SPCA – 125 years of serving and protecting animals in British Columbia! More than a million farm, domestic and wild animals have received life-saving help, thanks to our amazing staff, volunteers, supporters and community partners.
From the BC SPCA’s creation in 1895 to our first shelter opening in 1950; from our millionth animal adopted in 2014 to major changes in laws protecting animals in 2019, you’ve helped us transform the lives of millions of animals."

SPCA Pet Cemetery is in a natural setting with large trees and native grasses. There are walking pathways throughout the cemetery with approximately 300 grave sites.
The cemetery is on private property and is owned and operated by the SPCA - Penticton Branch. There is a gate at the entrance which was unlocked when we were there. We freely walked the cemetery and most of the graves are marked with headstones and personal tributes to the beloved pets interred within.
The BC SPCA established this pet cemetery in 1987 and is still in use. There are two plaques near the entrance at ground level.
