This large sculpture of a bird seated on the side walk is situated near to the main shopping streets of Faro and many cafes and restaurants.

The bird is a rather idealised figure with a round body, a fairly long neck with its head looking skyward, a large hole for its eye and a long beak gaping open.
It's not clear whether this is an adult bird or a young chick hoping to be fed by its parents.
The surface of the sculpture is rather rough giving a simple interpretation of feathers and on its back amongst this rough area is a large figure of 2000.
It's therefore possible that it was erected as part of the Millennium celebrations but there is no description of the statue nearby and I can't find any information on the web.
