The magnificent maple is located on the greens in front of the Ontario Legislature at Queen's Park in Toronto. The tree was planted in 1935 to honour 25 years of King George V's rule over the then British Empire.
The tree was planted by the Mayor of Toronto, James Simpson, on the 6 May, 1935.
The marker reads:
This tree was planted by
James Simpson, Esq.
Mayor of Toronto
on the occasion of the
celebration of the
twenty-fifth anniversary
of the ascension of
King George the Fifth
to the Throne.
May 6th, 1935
