USACE 1 SM - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This mark is one of a series of US Army Corps of Engineer survey marks on the locks of the Charles River just east of the Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge and west of the Charlestown Bridge.

This mark is near the western edge of the large "island" between the northernmost and the middle channels/locks. You have to circumvent a barrier to get to this mark. BE CAREFUL! The locks are active, and if they should open while you're getting out there, you might find a walkway swinging towards you. However, you can see the disk just fine from behind the gates - you just won't be able to read it.

This mark is located just southeast of CA/T 553.
