The main campground at Cascade River State Park. There are also areas for group primitive camping, and backpacking campsites.
40 drive-in sites are available. Four have a pull-through. Three of the sites are designated as handicapped-accessible. About half of the sites in this campground have electric hookup. Three of the non-electric sites are kept open year round.
All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Drinking water is available in three places in the campground. During the regular season, a building with modern restrooms and showers is available for campers. There are also latrines in four locations. The shower building has a dishwashing station outside.
Site size and configuration varies. You could get a smaller RV in most. Some can accommodate two tents. The campground is wooded but does not offer a great deal of privacy. At night, if there is not nearby traffic on Hwy. 61, you can hear the roar of the Cascade River as it rushes to Lake Superior.
The campground is close to both the park office and the trail center.
The rate is $23 per night May through the third week of October. In the off-season, it is $17. Add $8 for sites with electric hookup.
You will also need a state park vehicle permit. Good at any Minnesota state park, vehicle permits cost $5 per day or $25 for a year.
