The Clontarf Chapel is part of what was once the St Joseph’s Boys’ Orphanage was renamed Clontarf Boys’ Town in 1941 and in 1986 became the Clontarf Aboriginal College. The chapel was designed by architect Marie Jackson, in the Romanesque style. The orphanage boys did the majority of the work, including the laying of 300,000 bricks, tiling the roof, making the fifty seats and doing other woodwork such as the parquetry.

This Chapel was consecrated to the Glory of God and in honour of St John Bosco by his grace most Rev R Prendiville D.D. Archbishop of Perth on December 20th 1941
