In Winter Harbor, within the Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia National Park, is Schoodic Point.
The Schoodic Scenic Byway is a 29 mile scenic road that passes through the mainland portion of Acadia National Park. There is a fee to enter the park, but I did not see a place where you purchase the pass ($25/car for a week - 2015). The loop road through the park is paved, but portions are one way. The waymark is at the turnoff to enter Acadia National Park.
There are several places to stop for a view. One of the places is Schoodic Point, which has an access road off the loop road. Also near this point is the Schoodic Institute, which also has trails to similar rock cliffs and view. Unfortunately, our view that day was obscured by fog. There are other trails, such as up to Schoodic Head.
