The Columbia Wagon Works was built in 1889. The company was formed on June 7, 1889, by Columbia natives, W.T. Garrison, John Hutchinson, and Theodore Urban. The wagon making industry was well established in south-central Pennsylvania when Columbia Wagon Works opened in 1889.
Today, the buildings are owned by Columbia Project, Inc., and have been rehabilitated into a sixty-unit apartment complex, which opened in the fall of 1996.
