Ferret scout car mounted outside the armouries in Truro, home of the 1st Battalion, The Nova Scotia Highlanders (North). These vehicles were manufactured in the UK by Daimler and were in use throughout the Commonwealth. The Canadian Army had 124 Ferrets in service up until 1981.
The example on display has no identifying markings. However, it is safe to assume that it was in use by the "North Novas"from the 1950's to the 1970's.
Location restrictions:
The Ferret is mounted in front of the Truro Armouries on Willow Street. It is available for viewing 24/7. However, it is on Defence Department property, so one should be aware that the area may be restricted from time to time to facilitate military efforts.
