This NGS mark is located in a rocky outcrop just east of Tennant-Mt Hebron Rd and is part of the 'TENNANT' series of survey marks.

I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey Azimuth Mark from 1948 in good condition. It is monumented on top of a lava rock boulder as part of a rocky outcrop east of Tennant-Mt Hebron Rd. This AZ mark is part of the 'Tennant' series of survey marks (PID# MW0491). The NGS coordinates are adequate for station recovery.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 2.3 MI N FROM TENNANT. 2.3 MILES NORTH ALONG A GRAVEL ROAD FROM THE POST OFFICE AT TENNANT, NEAR THE SUMMIT OF A LAVA KNOLL, IN THE TOP OF A BEDROCK OUTCROP, 86 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, ABOUT 2 FEET LOWER THAN THE SUMMIT ON THE SOUTH SLOPE, AND ABOUT 15 FEET HIGHER THAN THE ROAD.

THE AZIMUTH MARK, STAMPED TENNANT 1948, IS SET IN OUTCROPPING BEDROCK ON THE CREST OF A LAVA KNOLL. IT IS 75 FEET EAST OF THE ROAD AND 15 FEET ABOVE THE ROAD LEVEL. TO REACH FROM THE STATION 'TENNANT', GO NORTHWEST ON THE ROAD FOR 0.15 MILE TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE RIGHT.
