EN: The old granary of Baden is located in the old town at the banks of the Limmat. It was built in 1511 by Agnes Hospital and initially used for itheir own purposes. But from the 16th or 17th century it served as a grain warehouse for the urban population, although it has still been called the Hospital depot for centuries.

During the Helvetic Republic it was used as a military barracks and in the mid-19th century there was a work center for prisoners.

The theater in the basement of the Kornhaus was opened in 1954. In 1969 the association was renamed to "claque" and in 1971 an own cast was founded. The original Theatre company moved into a new house in 1989. The orphaned stage in the Granary was taken over by a new new team towards the end of the same year, the "Theater im Kornhaus" or ThiK.

The ThiK has no own cast and maintains a close partnership with independent theater groups and other theaters. About 80 performances per year are given, mainly guest performances and co-productions from different disciplines.

DE: Das Kornhaus von Baden befindet sich in der Altstadt an der Limmat. Es wurde 1511 vom Agnesspital erbaut und zunächst für eigene Zwecke verwendet. Ab dem 16. oder 17. Jahrhundert diente es aber auch als Kornlager für die Stadtbevölkerung, obwohl es noch jahrhundertelang Spitalmagazin genannt wurde.

Während der Helvetischen Republik wurde es als Kaserne benutzt und in der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts waren darin Arbeitsplätze für Strafgefangene untergebracht.

Das Theater im Keller des Kornhauses wurde 1954 eröffnet. Ab 1969 heisst der Verein "claque" und 1971 wird ein eigenes Ensemble gegründet. 1989 zieht das ursprüngliche Theater in ein neues Haus. Die verwaiste Bühne im Kornhaus wird gegen Ende desselben Jahres von einer neuem neuen Team übernommen, dem "Theater im Kornhaus" oder ThiK.

Das ThiK hat kein eigenes Ensemble und pflegt eine enge Partnerschaft mit freien Theatergruppen und anderen Theatern. Pro Jahr werden etwa 80 Vorstellungen gegeben, vorwiegend Gastspiele und Co-Produktionen aus verschiedenen Sparten.
