The Eagle Creek Trail runs down hill 8.9 miles from the Appalachian Trail to the Lakeshore Trail. On the way the trail crosses Eagle Creek some 15 times, sometimes on footlog bridges and sometimes at fords. Fording the creek can be hazardous at times of high water. The junction at the Lakeshore Trail is about 1/2 mile north of Fontana Lake. The trail passes through Spence Field near the Spence Field Shelter.
