EN: This insect hotel is located at the former gravel pit Kaeppelin in the south of Weil am Rhein, which was declared a nature reserve of 2003.
The structure is a clay wall of about four to two meters under a protective roof. Unlike most other insects Hotels this is not dedicated to solitary bees, but to potter wasps (Odynerus spinipes).
DE: Dieses Insektenhotel befindet sich bei der ehemaligen Kiesgrube Käppelin im Süden von Weil am Rhein, die 2003 zu einem Naturschutzgebiet erklärt wurde.
Das Gebilde ist eine Lehmwand von etwa vier auf zwei Metern unter einem Schutzdach. Anders als die meisten anderen Insektenhotels ist dieses nicht für Wildbienen gedacht, sondern für Schornsteinwespen (Odynerus spinipes).
