The IAC Building was designed by Frank Gehry and built by the Turner Construction Company. It was completed in 2007. This was the first building by Frank Gehry in New York City. The 155' high, 10 story asymmetrical building was constructed at a cost of $62 million dollars. The concrete structure has diagonal walls and a curvy milk-glass façade which is imbedded with patterned ceramic particles intended to improve energy efficiency.
The building has two levels; the three towers of the building rising above the zig-zag base. The towers are set back which allows the three upper penthouse towers to have rooftop terraces. The shape of the building harmonizes with the adjacent Hudson River as it appears to be a large yacht sailing down river.
