text: "Routes of the armies of General John Sullivan and General James Clinton 1779 an expedition against hostile Indian nations which checked this aggression of the English and Indians on the frontiers of New York and Pennsylvania extending westward the dominion of the United States erected by the state of New York 1929"

other side: "Through the friendship and influence of Amos Draper James McMaster a soldier of General Sullivan's army obtained by treaty with the Indians in June 1785 eighteen square miles of land north of the Susquehanna River and east of Owego creek known as McMasters half township which included the site of the village of Owego founded in 1787 erected by the state of New York 1929"
