The maze is set in the beautiful Priory Gardens. The hedges are hornbeam and copper beech. Many of the dead ends contain statutes, seats, or wooden letters of the alphabet. There is a raised viewing platform in the maze from which most of the gardens can be seen.
The surrounding gardens have a stream, lakes, meadows and woodlands. There is an area for pond dipping and a well stocked café.
Many of the plants can be bought at the Plant Centre next to the café.
