EN: The old mill of Eptingen is located in the village center on the road to Läufelfingen.
It was already depicted on drawings by the land surveyor Georg Friedrich Meyer in the 17th century. Even then it had a tiled roof, while thatched roofs were still common. Presumably, the mill was built in the 16th century and changed considerably in the 18th and 19th centuries, it has only on the gable end the original Gothic windows.
The three-storey house has an elevated ground floor and a slightly buckled gabled roof. Note the corner pilaster strips, which give the building a stately appearance.
The mill was in operation until 1926 and has since been used as a residence. It has recently been thoroughly renovated.
DE: Die alte Mühle von Eptingen befindet sich im Dorfzentrum an der Strasse nach Läufelfingen.
Sie erscheint bereits auf Zeichnungen des Geometers Georg Friedrich Meyer aus dem 17. Jahrhundert. Schon damals hatte sie ein Ziegeldach, obwohl sonst noch Strohdächer üblich waren. Vermutlich wurde die Mühle im 16. Jahrhundert erbaut und im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert stark verändert, so hat sie nur noch auf der Giebelseite die ursprünglichen gotischen Fenster.
Das Dreistöckige Haus hat ein erhöhtes Erdgeschoss und ein leicht geknicktes Satteldach. Auffällig sind die Ecklisenen, die dem Gebäude ein herrschaftliches Aussehen verleihen.
Die Mühle war bis 1926 in Betrieb und wird seither als Wohnhaus genutzt. Sie wurde kürzlich umfassend renoviert.
