To get to the Wisconsin point lighthouse, you have to pick your way carefully along a quarter-mile of irregular concrete and granite riprap boulders. The journey is not for the faint of heart or unsteady of foot. However, those who make it are rewarded with an amazing view of Lake superior, a close look at a beautiful and elegant lighthouse, a few NGS benchmarks, and an unforgettable experience watching the shipping pass by.
The day Blasterz were here, a man in his two grown sons entertained us for quite some time with acrobatic flips and sometimes graceful dives off of the concrete pad on which the Wisconsin Point Lighthouse has been set. They were happy to have their pictures made by a landlubber -- ha ha
Blasters were too chicken to do the same -- not because of the distance to the water, but because we knew that the water of of Lake Superior is very cold even in the heat of summer. Blasterz, being Texans, do not do cold very well.
