Located in front of the Madras Police Station and City Hall is a veterans memorial sculpture honoring a local soldier killed in Iraq in 2006. Near the sculpture are a number of dedicated benches, each bench containing a name of a branch of the U.S. military. This particular bench contains the word 'Coast Guard' along with a plaque on the side that reads:
