The flag of Thürnen was chosen in 1944. The symbol relates to the popular etymology of the town name as "at the towers", which is not historically documented and most probably incorrect. The colors are the ones of Homburg, who ruled the area in the Middle Ages.
I found this flag at a street corner in the historic town center.
