City of Uniontown World War II Memorial - Uniontown, Pennsylvania
The memorial is on the grounds of the county courthouse is a tribute to those who served.
Engraved free-standing, black granite planks list those who fought in World War II.
There are 3,000 names of soldiers who left from Uniontown, there were approximately 15,000 people in the city of Uniontown, that's one out of every five ... . That's a huge ratio. For a town that is so small, that's an impressive number of soldiers."
The memorial also features engraved paving bricks encased in 16 panels along the memorial walkways, and fifteen dedicated benches.
As part of his Eagle Scout project, Andrew A. Jellots III raised money for one of the 13 flags that wave over the memorial. He also purchased a brick to honor his grandfather Andrew A. Jellots, a World War II prisoner of war.
