The 2km walking track follows Kareaara Stream from Tangoio Falls
parking area to Te Ana Falls, about 30mins return. The beautiful Falls plunge more than 20 metres over a cliff into a secluded pool at the base that flows on down the stream beside the track. You are able to walk right up to the pool at the base. Enjoy the walk through native bush and watch for koura (freshwater crayfish) in the streams.
Getting there: An easy drive for all vehicle types, takes roughly 30 min from Napier. The road surface is always sealed.
The carpark is located on SH2 itself (right hand side of road at foot of hill) with picnic tables (no toilets). The track starts across a well-built swingbridge. Track starts out easy and flat but can be a bit muddy and slippery, and narrow in places. Wear good walking shoes.
