Located at the Canadian County Historical Museum, you will find several historic buildings, such as the old El Reno Hotel, a Red Cross canteen from World War I, and an early one-room school house and Mennonite church.
Tucked in behind the El Reno Hotel is the Darlington Jail. It was moved from the site of the Darlington Cheyenne-Arapaho Indian Agency approximately five miles northwest of El Reno.
This is a one-story frame clapboard building, with a hipped roof. The single entrance is located at the front and is wood, flanked by single double-hung windows which are barred. At the rear and side of the jail are small, barred window openings high on the walls of the cells. An interior photo shows an old Franklin stove for heat.
We assume the jail is open for inspection during museum hours by request. Phone: 405-262-5121
