Big Brutus is the second largest electric coal shovel in the world. Just a simple glance at the photo showing a normal shovel next to Big Brutus will convince you that this is, indeed, a ginormous object! If you gutted it of the mechanisms therein, you could convert it to a hotel, complete with an elevator. Though the elevator requires 3-phase electricity that isn't currently available at the site.
From the web site, we find that Big Brutus, which was constructed in 1962, was retired in 1974. It is 16 stories high and weighs a mere 11 million pounds (5,500 tons). The dipper (bucket) holds 90 cubic feet of material. Don't worry about getting out of Big Brutus's way (if it was running again), because it only moved .22 miles per hour.
This ginormity is well worth a visit.
