The trail goes around the Southern end of Cayuga Lake. This access point is at Stewart Park. There is lots of parking in Stewart Park.

"TCass Parkhe Cayuga Waterfront Trail Initiative (CWTI) is a partnership of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce Foundation and the City of Ithaca.

The Cayuga Waterfront Trail will be a six-mile, multi-use trail providing an active, non-motorized transportation and recreation way connecting our community's most popular waterfront destinations. The Waterfront Trail will help Ithaca develop a sustainable transportation system, enhance our quality of life and contribute to the revitalization of our community's waterfront. It is our goal to build one of the best trails in upstate New York."

"The Waterfront Trail is a ten-foot wide asphalt trail designed for use by walkers, joggers, bicyclists, inline skaters, mobility-impaired users, and parents with strollers. Benches, scenic overlooks, interpretive signs, and trailheads with decorative paving and kiosks help make the Cayuga Waterfront Trail a special place to relax, exercise, and enjoy the waterfront setting."

"The Cayuga Waterfront Trail is used by pedestrians, cyclists, roller bladers, dog walkers, and accommodates people with disabilities. As you use the trail, please be courteous to other trail users, and watch for stray balls from the Cass Park playing fields and the Newman Municipal Golf Course! Please Remember: All users stay to right except when passing Pass on left giving an audible signal Bicyclists and skaters yield to pedestrians No motorized vehicles except wheelchairs Dogs are welcome on short leash. Please clean up your dog's waste. Mutt Mitts are provided at the north and south ends of the trail at dog care station"
