EN: The Roman Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul is located on a free standing hill in the eastern part of the municipality. The baroque church was built in 1716 and inaugurated in 1718. The distinctive church tower has a square base and an octagonal upper floor topped with a canopy. The walls are decorated with painted corner pillars.
The frescoes in the interior are from Francesco Antonio Giorgiolio. The high altar of 1740 is told to be a gift of Empress Maria Theresa, however, this is not documented.
The church of 1718 is the fifth church building at this location, whose history goes back to Roman times, where on the hill stood a fortification. In one of the previous churches Bernard of Clairvaux is said to have performed a miracle in the year 1146.
The ensemble of the church together with the cemetery chapel from the 16th century, the parish house, the parsonage and the former schoolhouse of 1812 is listed as a cultural heritage site of national significance.
DE: Die Römisch-Katholische Kirche St. Peter und Paul befindet sich auf einem freistehenden Hügel im Osten der Gemeinde. Die Barockkirche wurde 1716 erbaut und 1718 eingeweiht. Der markante Kirchturm hat eine quadratische Basis und einen achteckigen Aufsatz mit einem Turmhelm. Die Mauern sind mit aufgemalten Ecksäulen verziert.
Die Fresken in Innern stammen von Francesco Antonio Giorgiolio. Der Hochaltar von 1740 soll ein Geschenk von Kaiserin Maria Theresia sein, das ist allerdings nicht dokumentiert.
Die Kirche von 1718 ist bereits das fünfte Kirchgebäude an diesem Ort, dessen Geschichte bis auf die Römerzeit zurückgeht, wo auf dem Hügel eine Befestigungsanlage stand. In einer der Vorgängerkirchen soll Bernhard von Clairvaux im Jahr 1146 ein Wunder vollbracht haben.
Die Kirche steht zusammen mit der Friedhofkapelle aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, dem Pfarrhaus, der Kaplanei und dem ehemaligen Schulhaus von 1812 als Ensemble unter nationalem Denkmalschutz.
