Her real name was Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti. She was born in Egypt in 1933 and died in Paris in 1987.

The statue is a bust made of bronze supported by a stone plinth, placed in a little park close to Dalida's latest home in Montmartre, Paris. The square there was renamed square Dalida.
