Named after a local stagecoach robber and rustler, Usery Mountain Regional Park is located in the Usery Mountains in Northeast Maricopa County and is on the Northern edge of the City of Mesa. The park covers 3600 acres of upper Sonoran desert terrain. The park has 30 miles of trails designed for hiking, biking and horse back riding. There are a number of campgrounds, playgrounds picnic ramadas and and a horse staging area. The park borders the Tonto National Forest and the trails intersect forest trails allowing the outdoor enthusiast access to many more thousands of acres. The park also has one of the best archery courses in the nation. The park ranger offers a broad variety of educational courses, movie screenings and guided walks. The focus of these events is making the public aware of the wonders of the desert and particular attention is given to the needs of children.
