The majority of the business section of Didsbury consists of brick buildings, and for a very good reason - FIRE! Some time after that this brick building was built to replace the wooden 1914 victim.

W.H. Smith Hardware
Built in 1914, this is an example of common façade construction typical of Didsbury. Prior to the fire of 1914, a wooden Boomtown structure built in 1902 was occupied by the W.H. Smith Hardware. During the 1930s and 40s, H. Lynch-Staunton's Law Office was located on the site. Since then, the building has been the home of Tuggle Insurance, H and R Block and Mugs Coffee House.
