The majority of the business section of Didsbury consists of brick buildings, and for a very good reason - FIRE! In 1919 this building replaced the town's theatre and opera house, lost in the New Year's Day 1914 fire.

Klinck Block
Built in 1919 for Daniel Klinck, this building's paired upper windows suggest the influence of the Chicago style that, in larger urban centres was characterized by large glazed window openings made possible by steel and concrete lintels. The Klinck Block housed a theatre and opera house that replaced one destroyed in the 1914 fire. The building functioned as a movie theatre until 1968 when it was purchased by the Didsbury Elks Lodge #514.
