Sam Shing Laundry
This building was constructed in 1913 for Sam Shing, who had moved his laundry business from Frank the previous year. T. A. McLean's nearby boarding house, built in 1908 on the street corner to the north, ensured that business was brisk and Shing was able to buy out his land-lord after a year of operation.
In 1934 the building became a shoe repair shop, then became a residence in 1944. In 1960 it served as Hillcrest's post office and was also the residence for the post-mistress, until the opening of a new post office.
