"Per fess Gules and Argent a Crozier counterchanged." (Flags of the World)

I could not find any reliable information about the history of this flag.

The crozier is a very common emblem in flags of the area, it was the coats of arms of the Prince-Bishopric of Basel, and later of the city and the canton of Basel. Bättwil was under the authority of the Prince-Bishop until 1522, then it became part of Solothurn. The flag of Bättwil looks like a blend of those two flags, but this is only a guess.

I found the flag at the main street next to the churchyard.
