"Trapped Ball: is a 6' 4? by 1' 11? W by 2' 3? freestanding sculpture consisting of two curved stainless steel columns that form an X by crossing near the top with an oxidized steel ball, which is sealed with Penetrol, suspended from a small T-bar in a niche near the upper part of the sculpture. According to the artist, Dale Rogers, "We did a lot of trial and error, experimenting with different sized balls and columns. The complexity and technical intricacy of this piece led me to begin using the help of computer programs to give me a 3-D design of the art that was in my head."
