As part of an ongoing Community Arts Project utility boxed are being decorated in phases. The first phase was in 2010, second 2011 and third was completed in the fall of 2012.
This 8' by 4' by 2' utility box is painted with a large grouping of blue hydrangeas. On the sidewalk side an orange, black, and white viceroy butterfly flutters over the hydrangeas against a blue background. Below a blackbirds is perched on a naked branch. The street side has the similarly patterned a monarch butterfly landing on a hydrangea. The hydrangeas wrap round all for sides of the utility box.
The utility box is signed by muralist Susan Rau. It was created during the first phase of the Community Arts Project in 2010.
