In Bolton, on the south side of Route 117, is a milestone marking the distance to Boston.
The marker is located near the road, near the lot line between the Bolton Public Library and a private residence east of the library. Park at the library.
The slab is about 2 ft high, 4 ft wide and less than a foot thick made from a granite-like material. The light spots on the face are lichen. The lettering facing the road says "Boston 31 M <-". One source stated that based on the quarry marks and text, the marker was made either on or after 1800 (leaves a rather wide range).
