The St. Louis and Southwestern Railroad, commonly called the Cotton Belt Railroad, came to Nevada in 1888. The depot from Clinton was moved to Nevada at that time. When rail travel ended, it stood empty for many years. In the 1960's a farmer bought it and moved it to his farm as a storage building. In 1986 the Irving Heritage Society bought it and relocated it to Irving's Heritage Park just west of S. Main St. between W 2nd St. and W. 3rd St.
