At one time The Happy Chef boasted 56 restaurants throughout the upper Midwest, many featuring these gigantic statutes. The very first restaurant was opened in 1963 at this location in Mankato.
Today only 3 restaurants remain in existence with this location being the only one to still feature The Happy Chef statue.
