This mural was sponsored by the WPA and part of their cultural program to put artists to work during the 1930’s and early 1940’s.
It is located in the lobby of the Marietta Post Office, above the Postmaster's office door. The post office building is a WPA-constructed building dating to 1940. The mural is entitled “Chickasaw Family Making Pah Sho Fah.” It was painted by Solomon McCombs in 1942.
The mural shows women making bread; another stirring over a fire; children watching their parents; and two white settlers shucking corn.
