The sidewalk running north from the Love County Courthouse has been imbedded with dedicated pavers, the funds used for renovation. Several hundred names of residents and businesses in the county can be seen – many with engraved pictures.
A paver which caught our eye was one donated by “Friends of the Love County Court House” and commemorates Oklahoma’s 100th anniversary of statehood in 2007.
In 1830, the Indian Removal Act resulted in the relocation of over 100,000 American Indians to what is now Oklahoma, then called Indian Territory. In 1907, Indian Territory and Oklahoma Territory were officially brought in as a U.S. State, named Oklahoma, a Choctaw word meaning "Red People". There are currently 39 American Indian tribes headquartered within the State.
