Originally the township of Clermont was located beside Hoods Lagoon but a flood in 1916 killed 65 of its citizens & saw the town moved uphill & out of danger. The lagoon is now a popular picnic & walking destination & the boardwalk allows you to see first hand the fish & fowls that make the lagoon their home.
