This station is a NGS standard vertical mark, located on Assateague Island, MD. It is located near the east side of a paved bicycle trail that runs parallel to the east side of Stephen Decatur Memorial Road (aka Berry Ferry Dr), the roadway that leads to Assateague Island National Park:

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1990 6.6 KM (4.1 MI) SOUTHEASTERLY ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 376 FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 113 IN BERLIN, THENCE 7.0 KM (4.3 MI) SOUTHERLY ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 611, THENCE 1.6 KM (1.0 MI) SOUTHERLY ALONG BERRY FERRY DRIVE, 14.1 M (46.3 FT) SOUTHEAST OF THE ROAD CENTERLINE, 0.8 M (2.6 FT) SOUTHWEST OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF BUILDING NUMBER 3, 0.6 M (2.0 FT) ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE ROAD, 0.5 M (1.6 FT) WEST OF THE WEST FACE OF THE BUILDING, AND 0.3 M (1.0 FT) NORTH OF A WITNESS POST. NOTE--THE ROD IS ENCASED IN A 4-INCH PVC PIPE THAT IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE.

The description is adequate, and the building in the description is clearly marked with the numeral '3' and can easily be seen from the roadway. There was no witness post, but a traffic cone was in place adjacent the mark at the time of this posting. The disk may be covered with sand and/or leaves.

Note that this is the bay side of the island, where insect infestation is high, especially with deer ticks. Be vigilant for these pests as they can be bad for your health.
